Another Project!

My sad, sad craft room is still in shambles. BUT there’s a silver lining! There IS furniture in the room now AND things are being made! We recently acquired a used dresser that resembled a Mid-Century piece, but needed a little help. So I am refinishing it and transforming it into the perfect statement piece for our bedroom. Here’s one of the photo’s I am using for inspiration:

See how the skeleton of the dresser is white and the drawers and legs are still the natural wood? That’s what I’m going for here.

Really pretty, right? My obsession with Mid-Century style has taken over my decorating sense and now all I do online is research DIY hacks of more recent furniture styles and how to make them look Mid-Century. If only there were more hours in the day, I’d have made so many things by now! But alas, I can only do so much with the time I am given.

Anyway, here is the dresser we found:

This is the image that was included in the post online where I found this piece. I was so excited to get it home that I forgot to take my own "Before" photo and started taping it up and sanding it!

I plan on adding some tapered cylinder legs to the bottom to give it a little extra height and style. I’ve had a lot of fun with this so far. I’ve already sanded down the surfaces I will paint, and I’ve started the priming process. By the way, I LOVE sanding. If you have anything you need sanded, call me. Seriously. I felt like Macho Man with that thing!

If you look closely, you can see Kevin in this picture too!

And this is where we are at now. All primed around the sides, front, and bottom. Now to prime the top!

See the plastic under the dresser? I’ve discovered the only thing Space Bags are good for! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The primer should be dry now, so back to it! Stay tuned for updates!
